A young family of 3 with another on the way, our clients brief was to create a family friendly space that they could all enjoy. The house was raised high above the garden with many uneven levels, a natural stream ran across one end and opened out onto woodland at the other. The garden was to be divided into three zones, on three levels that our clients could relax and entertain in. Subtly dividing the drop from the highest level to the bottom of the garden. Cube designed and built a Gabion wall to retain the levels, and divide the zones. This was softened with structural hedging and contemporary planting. The house opens out on to the first zone, a large entertaining space with bespoke outdoor kitchen area and egg BBQ. The kitchen was artfully designed using a gabion basket lined with natural sandstone to complement the patio and Gabion walling. Stepping down to the second zone, a smaller middle level, a bistro area was created. Surrounded with structural planting, this private area is perfect for casual drinks or some quiet reading time. Further steps lead you down to the bottom level, this zone faces the feature gabion walls and the stream. The stream is screened with Gabon caging to create a child friendly natural water-feature. An additional patio space is also created for relaxed seating, looking out onto the lawned area and woodland backdrop, perfect for relaxing while the children play. Mood lighting completes the overall look and highlights the design features.
