Multi-level Contemporary Garden

This contemporary family garden was designed for all year use.

An open sided glass roofed pergola was built for a covered relaxing area and outdoor play for our clients four children. The upper terrace is very large so we designed into it Balau decking in organic shapes to soften the impact of so much paving. Stainless steel wire rope balustrading was used to protect children from falling off the 1m drop. A slope and step gives two routes into the lawn area, which has been kept simple with only one flowerbed on the left and clipped box hedging intersecting the lawn.

The play area, at the bottom of the garden is surrounded by a deep layer of bark mulch, keeping the children free from dirt and offers a soft landing should they fall.

Other features include lighting, rainwater harvesting and awfully automated irrigation system.
